Karla Bernal Morales currently holds the position of Vice President at the Arizona Technology Council. In this capacity, Morales is responsible for spearheading and supervising the Council’s operations in Southern Arizona. With an extensive background spanning over 25 years in the region’s education, nonprofit, and governmental sectors, Morales previously served as the Director for the Office of Multicultural Advancement in the Office of the Provost at the University of Arizona. In this role, she functioned as the intermediary for the University’s Diversity Councils and facilitated the interface between the state and local community with the university’s senior leadership and campus partners to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives on campus. Furthermore, Morales also supported the University of Arizona’s government and community relations for the southern Arizona region.
Karla boasts a career grounded in public service, commencing with her altruistic endeavors at a local community center. Subsequently, she devoted over 17 years to the State of Arizona with the Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, where she extended assistance to thousands of Arizona families in obtaining state and federally-funded aid for nutritional, employment training, childcare, and medical purposes. During her tenure at United Way of Tucson & Southern Arizona, Karla raised over eight million dollars to underpin programs in the realms of education, financial stability, and health, profoundly impacting the southern Arizona community.
Presently, Morales is actively engaged on several community boards, including the Pima County Workforce Investment Board, Campus Research Corporation, Earn to Learn, College of Engineering Dean’s Council, Charter 100, Tucson Airport Authority, and most recently served as the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Bilingual Studies from the University of Arizona, and an MBA from the Eller College of Management.
